Yes, there are numerous implications and ramifications (both spiritual and physical) for this country following yesterday’s supreme court ruling. However, my fellow Christians, let’s take care not to be hypocritical. Let’s not talk about defending biblical marriage when there are many “in” the body of Christ that defile it as well. As much as same-sex relations are sexual immorality in the eyes of God, so are ANY sexual relations outside the confines of marriage between a man and a woman. Christians, let’s examine and judge ourselves before we examine and judge the world around us. Let’s not be so self-righteous that we think only a nominal confession of the faith means entrance into God’s eternal kingdom. Let’s clean ourselves up first so that we can then witness to those outside the body in hopes that they might be converted and inherit eternal life as well!
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! (2 Corinthians 13:5)
I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.” (1 Corinthians 5:9-13)
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. (Galatians 5:13)
Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. (1 Peter 2:16)
Let us keep this in mind: law instituted (either new or changed) by man is at most transient. God’s unchanging, perfect law reigns supreme. At the last moment, when judged by the true Supreme Judge against His true Supreme Law in His true Supreme Court, my only prayer is that we are found worthy to enter into His eternal kingdom.
